You’re so right. I mean “correct”. If I could have one wish fulfilled (after the obvious one about the election outcome) it would be that the Fairness Doctrine be reestablished for all news media.

David,

Once again, the corpus satiricus lobe of your left hemisphere has kicked into overdrive and described our predicament perfectly. And the one common denominator underlying all of these problems? Obscenely huge piles of 💰💲💰💲💰💲💰for an obscenely small proportion of the world's population.

I always knew you were brilliant, but this is one of your best. You nailed it! Money, misinformation (aka propaganda) and power hungry dudes are what's going on.

I blame the voters of all shapes, sizes, and colors. With what is already happening in Washington, there is a good chance some will blame themselves over the next four years. We will definitely see the reality of their ways.

I have a hard time understanding why broadcast media have to meet certain (low but existent) standards regarding truth and (somewhat) balanced reporting to get or maintain a license, while the freewheeling cable and streaming media go completely unregulated. I am in no way arguing for censorship or an attack on free speech, but it does seem to me that the amount of complete bullshit that passes for news on unlicensed outlets is doing our Democracy no favors. 30 minutes of Walter Cronkite each evening reporting facts rather than opinion seemed about right to me, but then again I’m old…

Cmon down, be the next to play The Night of Fright! Look forward to you at the Dems Oro Valley Christmas Party (thought you quit stuff like that, but doesn’t the adoration of your minions make you break promises?). I digress. Yes, Kamala and the group were picture perfect.

This comment by you summed up the election:

2024 was a contest between a diverse coalition of educated rational citizens who believe in evidence-based policy-making warring against a homogeneous coalition of millions of uneducated irrational citizens targeted and misinformed by billionaire subsidized media sources in small communities dominated by theocratic pastors and preachers.

That’s it! Smart vs. gullible and stupid. Period. Can’t beat that. It’s all about the price of a dozen eggs. And some misogyny tossed in.

No. 4 takes the cake! There is NO place for any "ignorance of our process of government as a 'Self-Governing Republic.' IMHO: EDUCATION has failed to properly teach U.S. History, U.S. Constitution, and Civics to the youth of our country, probably since I graduated HS in 1949. "We, The People" ARE the government that far too many "citizens" complain about, denigrate, don't participate. Seriously? Who stays home from a presidential election? Ignorance is NOT bliss! What we now face ahead is the unequivocal result ... it is what it is.

Why would anyone hold on to the “perfection” of the Dems and choose to malign and despise 48.8% of the population? I choose to believe that the Dems didn’t reach out to who their base really is, in favor of reaching out to recovering Republicans looking for a place to vote…..and, like i say, part of that choice is a zany and completely unfounded idea that maybe i can WORK on the dems and get them to change direction ( so far almost completely unsuccessfully except when Betnie took the stage) and the other party is i just don’t want to think even a very slim majority of the country are idiots. But i love the game and oh yeah that stuff about the media is right on! I am already afraid of what constitutes a story for the media to tell us. Would your military dad care who Hegseth dances with on the counter of titty bars or might he prefer to hear about the very real possibility of using the military against its own people?!

Amen! Unfortunately, too many people willfully ignored Trump’s manifest lack of fitness; therefore, when you combined them with the Deplorables, the low-information voters, and those who are indifferent to the suffering of others, you get a plurality of dunces.

I just read William Langewiesche’s article in today’s NYTimes Magazine, “The Most Dangerous Game.” OMG. Why are we fussing over and worrying about anything else than Trump et al.”s fingers on the nuclear codes?

Thanks for stripping away the superficial, my friend. (I expect that some of those self proclaimed moral religious got all excited when they read stripping…) Thanks for shining a light on the core conditions that cynically promote division and misdirection.
