Jeez, you make it too hard to comment...at least I didn't have to give my mother's maiden name and check the boxes with traffic lights. But, I digress...You better be careful, with columns like this you will be one of the first to be hauled off to a gulag if he gets reelected. I always liked the first time he talked about Lincoln when he said, "Did you know that Lincoln was a Republican? Yes, he was." His ignorance nor those of his followers knows know bounds. Of course, he has said many times, "I like the uneducated." Sheesh. And fraudster? He makes Charles Ponzi look like a Boy Scout.
Just a note. Most, but not all, the countries in the western hemisphere-and there were many-that practised slavery did abolish slavery through nonviolent political means. This includes South America, Central America, and North America (Mexico). Mexico's abolishment of slavery is what led to Texas' war with Mexico. If Texicans, Texians, Tejanos (they were all different factions) and others that banded together at the Alamo could have negotiated years before the Civil War, it would have been the model to avoid the Civil War. Instead, it became the model in favor of war.
70 years ago, in Texas I had to 'negotiate', aka ask permission of, our high school football opponent before the start of each game, due to the fact that we had a black player on our team. Negotiations generally failed and as a result, to my great pride of our coaches and school staff, we would end up not playing the game at all. To expect a four-year-old brat of privilege that never mastered the complexities of successfully closing an umbrella, never heard of David Duke, although claims to be good friends with Fredrick Douglas, to negotiate a way out of a Civil War seems somewhat beyond reason.
You have probably found the true Essence de Magarevolution “99.99 per pint, on sale at certified truck tops nation-wide!”
If I toss my checkerboard and scream that I really won it all, does that mean I negotiated a settlement? Or would have if I had successfully snuck some extra pieces onto the board over the next calendar years?
OMG David - you've outdone yourself. This brought to mind the Austin Lounge Lizards' song, "War Between the States" featuring ol' Buford Julep - a prescient view of your essay today. I can't find a version of that to share, but lyrics are available...
And yet, the Sloth shall rise again...

Texans know nothing about the common good.
Do you stay up nights thinking this stuff up? You are too hilarious. I love your column.
Brilliant!
I especially loved the gang he'd invite to Mar-a-lago.
Love you today, David!

I wish what you said was comedy. Unfortunately, it paints a more realistic picture of what sort of thinking he would bring to a second term.
Oh no! More DJT..... There are many other topics, companies and persons to satirize.
The south won the war really, and we are reaping the hellfire now. Do Americans understand or care? Who will stand up?
