Thank you for all you have done. Perhaps your greatest contribution was your wordsmithing. It raised my flagging spirits mant times. WE ARE NOT GOING BACK!
Kudos to those who braved the weather yesterday to support Democracy… My father and grandfather fought in two different World Wars to keep the flame on the Statue of Liberty shining, and no matter who wins tomorrow, I too will continue the fight. It’s strange to me that most (if not all) of those who would round up and deport immigrants probably had someone in their family history who also sought freedom and opportunity on our shores.
Just a heads up for those of you planning on voting in person tomorrow:
GO EARLY AND BE PREPARED TO STAND IN LINE.
The lines will be long. I was supposed to help set up our voting center at 5:00 this evening, but the Emergency/early voting staff -- who were supposed to close at 3:00 -- STILL HAD PEOPLE IN LINE and so are still processing voters. Our set up is now delayed 90+ minutes so we won't be done till close to 11PM and we have to be there to open at 5:00AM tomorrow morning.
PLEASE BE PREPARED. BRING A CHEAT SHEET - as long as it is NOT an official ballot. Understand there will be lines; the ballot is long and may take some folks 20 minutes to go through. BUT IT IS WORTH IT. VOTE. Make your voice heard.
Be kind to those ahead of you, those working the polls, and those behind you. We will make sure everyone still in line when the polls close at 7:00PM tomorrow WILL get to vote. It's the Law.
Thx, Jude, for your work at the polls today and tomorrow. It is people like you who ensure that Americans have the right to vote in person on Election Day. I love the early ballot, but I realize it is not for everyone. I really appreciate what you are doing.
Great video by RW. He and you are inspiring for what you have done. If it does not go our way, remember how many survive the day with the serenity prayer. It gets thousands thru the day in AA. However, I think this will be a great day in America. We are not going back, but forward with courage. Thanks, for "doing something" Dave.
Being one of the leader edge boomers that grew up LOVING America, and all it stood for, and watching what's happened since a con man co-opted a Political party, then made it a dirty, salacious boy's club, Robin made me cry. My flag is outside, close to my 2016 NOPE sign, across from Abide No Hate. May we be smart enough and brave enough to welcome Kamala as our next President. Then I'll happily attend her Inauguration, as I did Barack's.
Thank you for keeping up the good fight and embracing the flag and the cause of democracy. Thank you for sharing the clip of Robin Williams, such a sweet and evocative looks at what the flag really stands for. Let's hope we can have a giant celebration for our first woman President within a few days!
Brava! I'd have joined you, but for a nasty case of Covid. I spent hours phone-banking with my froggy voice, instead. I've been so lifted by your words, Fitz. Now, let us pause a bit these next few days, and then breathe new life into our frayed democracy. Harris/Walz for the win!
The many on the corner of Speedway and Campbell waving Harris/Walz signs with Fitzsimmons in the cold rain was inspiring. Even more moving was the hundreds of honking, cheering vehicles going by causing one to feel Harris and Walz are, as Kamala likes to say, Win this thing!
Thank you, David, for organizing so many sign waving events.
