The shocking scandalous news about North Carolina’s Republican candidate for governor of that fine state is exceptionally noteworthy for several reasons.
Recently I saw a photo of Robert De Niro on Substack with the quote “I preferred the time in America when the President and the Village Idiot were two different people.” Thinking of satire I’m reminded of Wm Shakespeare’s political satire play Titus Andronicus as we have become a nation that seems to employ excessive violence and public bizarre behaviors into our culture. I prefer to read Shakespeare’s play versus reading about it in our daily newspaper or watching it on TV. Moral character seems to be out of vogue. The more outrageous stories I read the more disillusioned I become. Satire for the sake of entertainment is one thing but real life is another issue since what we’re learning about our politicians and it makes me what to scream 😱!
Titus Andronicus! I should read it. I find satire from the past comforting; reassuring me I'm not losing my mind and this nonsense is just the human condition.
I have said for years now that historically every village had an idiot, but now there villages full of idiots! Thanks for my early morning chuckle. Just can’t make this stuff up!!!!!
I have scrutinized all you have shared with us here and found it quite comprehensive, and as always informative. None the less I remain suspicious of the Goya bean connection which has received so little media attention. Now that the outright admission to Nazism has made it's presence know the dots are beginning to be connected. It can be expected that the re-institution of gas chambers will be a part of the "2025 Plan". "All" then, such as you and I will find ourselves at the front of a line prepared for those of radical decent. Come Nov. this is a certain fate, should Agent Orange become King of the "once" United States. aka. Dr. K
This is one of your "voices" that wasn't funny. Truly pathetic people and the inmates are trying to run the asylum. It scares the hell out of me of what will happen to this country if that perverted orange man would get anywhere near those revered doors to the White House.
Just when I thought you couldn't possibly write something better...here it is! Thank you Fitz for continuing to help us all through this life stranger than satire.
I don't think satire is dead. We have seen that the Great Orange Blob and his minions don't like being called out as "weird." So they need to hear it more and with more fervor. Satire allows this nicely. When Vance said he created stories to get more discussion of topics, true or not, some folks reiterated the couch sex material for discussion for his "weird" benefit! Trump's promised visit to Springfield, Ohio, is meant to drive up the number of felons in the town, since "weirdly" he is one. That he will fill his plane with others who will scam for money and drive up the crime rate to the amount previously claimed by those same criminals is not a coincidence, weirdly.
Satire isn't dead, it is just the current reality we live in. so weirdly laugh at each and every time and maybe, just maybe, reality will change away from it.

I DO scream!
If it were fiction nobody would believe it.

Nailed it. Beautifully written as well. And unfortunately, sad but true.
This is so on point!!!!!

“Screw her.” Thanks for cleaning up his language in this family friendly tome.
Fritz, you certainly have a way with words.
Great read!!
Despite all the truths in these comments, Isnt it appalling and frightening that those lowlifes could, actually, be elected.
Dave, thank you for articulating what leaves me shocked and speechless. All the "dreck" is bubbling up for the world to see.
Love ya, man!

Aren’t you glad you got that off your chest?
