However, I do want to warn everybody who will be waving signs at River and Campbell, if you're coming from the northwest, heading east on Ina, under no circumstances should you try to make a right on Campbell. You can't even get that far. As a result of the water main break, it is still being worked on. Best bet is to go down 1st Ave. to River and left at River. Have fun!
I had thought the event at Kolb and Speedway was 10 to 2 yesterday. I arrived a little after 11 to discover everyone had left. I decided to stick around for a few minutes anyway, toting the sign I'd brought with me, a souvenir from the Walz rally that had taken place a week earlier at Palo Verde High School.
A women stopped by briefly to say she was disappointed at not seeing the crowd she had expected. She had not brought a sign and had no one she could approach to ask for one, so she soon left, hoping to make it to another sign-waving event on a future occasion.
Shortly after her departure, a married couple arrived, the man sporting a Vietnam veteran hat. The husband and wife had each brought a sign, and between us we formed a small but loyal threesome of Harris supporters.
While we stood holding up our signs, a motorcade of a half-dozen or so vehicles drove down the east side of Kolb,, bedecked with numerous Trump stickers and flags. All were tooting for Trump. Occasionally, though, vehicles not part of the motorcade drove past us, honking for Harris. Between toots and honks, we had a lively discussion on politics and what the future might hold for our country.
We just got back. I brought my son who was asked by a Trump supporter where he put his tampon. He then told us that trump was God. Another woman told me that we were demons and my poor dog was a demon dork. ( OK, I'll let dork slide}. It's so exhausting to be with them.
Direct contact changes minds - public displays provides a permission structure to do so.
