So how about starting the impeachment process… where are the brave ones in governance and the brave ones sitting watching good governance porn? We all still have that right, right? While it’s there!
I did not think a thing could cheer me up today after reading the latest news but then you wrote about West Wing. I can't stop reminiscing and now I am laughing. You are truly brilliant.
As usual my day is once more brighter than it was when I woke. Savor and soak in the possibility that there is someone among the Democratic Party with the strength and courage to rise against the tsunami already heading this way.
Good Governance Porn! I love it! I've seen all of them but the Danish one and the Robert De Niro show.. They're all inspiring, but they also show just how small and shallow the current government is. Thank you for bringing some precious hope into my day.
Movies aren't the only place one can find positive portrayals of presidents; they have been known to show up in literature too. One example is The President Is Missing. The protagonist in this title is the fictional President Jonathan Duncan, a man with both guts and integrity. Though written by James Patterson, this title is noteworthy for its coauthor -- none other than real-life President Bill Clinton.
In a short time, the feces will hit the fan. Inflation and prices sky high, stock market in the pits, (TSLA stock at $21.75 per share), farmers holding pitchforks, commercial planes crashing, unemployment at unheard of levels since the Depression, communism being taught in the schools (even christian ones!), our former allies and the rest of the world realizing that they don't need us. Us realizing (too late) that we really need them.T hen and not until then, will the repubs and the Democrats unite to impeach djt.
Kevin Kline... he's soooo good. Met him and Phoebe Cates at Cafe Terra Cotta (Remember that place when St. Phillips Plaza was new?) when my son was 14 days old and Cates' baby was one year. We fussed over each other's babies while Kevin and my husband exchanged eye rolls.
Another recommendation for GGP: "FDR" on Hulu which shows how a strong leader still respected the Constitution's divisions of power but played them as close to the line as he could, not only to resurrect our country from the Great Depression but to help save Great Britain from Hitler before we entered WWII. Also "Churchill At War" which shows the good and bad of a flawed man who was a brilliant inspirational speaker when most needed.
Remember, that Senator Schumer intro'ed the No Kings bill. I don't think it's fair to lump them all together. We're talking about the rethuglyKKKQNRAs! Who outnumber the Blues in the Senate and in the House. Of course WE NEED TO FLIP THEM IN 2026.
Somebody needs to produce one where the idiot is impeached three times and is sentenced to life at Guantanamo… A musical comedy perhaps?
Immediately brought to mind the Cell Block Tango from Chicago: "He Had It Comin'!"

I really resonate with you.

Ah, you hit all my favorites and threw in a couple I haven’t yet seen. Thank you for this uplifting post!
Classics! Nicely done, and I am especially pleased to see Borgen on your list. 'The Contender" was another movie that might fit your list.
For current day viewing I loved Day Zero. It’s happening NOW.

Thank you! Can't wait to watch or rewatch all of these. Loved The West Wing!

I had to stop weeping about what we have lost before I could write to thank you. West Wing Forever!!!
Loved reviewing all the video clips.

DO SOMETHING!
Nice. Thank you.
