Thanks Fitz. As a sign of defiance I was not going to hang my flag today but after reading your pledge it is now proudly flying from my porch. I will continue to resist the clowns and fight for MY country's ideals.
Thank you again, Fitz, for inspiring some patriotism in me. It’s been sorely lacking for the last eight months. I will think of your pledge often in the dark days ahead & look for the light.
Thank you, David! Your pledge is inspiring. I will be sharing it with family and friends today. So casually, everyone is saying "Happy Fourth of July!" There is nothing casual about our fight to save democracy.
I am saving your poem to share with my family on this holiday. I'm reminded of the sign held recently by a protester that said "They want 1939. We'll give them 1776." Thanks! barbara martinsons
Beautiful. I will be wearing black today, but I keep a kernel of hope that somehow we’ll survive as a country because so many of us will not abide these attacks on decency and democracy. Sad day today. ❤️
This brought tears to my eyes. A beautiful reminder of who and what we are, and so many have forgotten. Thank you, and Happy Independence Day. Never give up, never give in.
Freakin' Brilliant! One of your best, Dave. I refuse to pledge allegiance to a flag that's been sullied and dishonored. When Democracy has been restored, then I shall once again stand up to be counted as American. Thank You!
It's a sad Fourth. Americans are now living in an age where our government feels that it is necessary to censor free speech that it doesn't like. First Amendment be damned. A long list of unfavorable words are simply being erased from government websites, with the hope that they will also be erased from American culture. What about the words "with Liberty and Justice for All" - are they next?
These are not just any old words, but powerful statements of our conviction as Americans that we have all memorized and recited since grade school. They are so fully ingrained in us that we can never forget them and will carry them to our graves. Now, with the stroke of a black Sharpie, downright clownish absurdity has morphed into cruel punishment, specifically targeting certain groups of Americans. Is his next executive order going to strike the words "With Liberty and Justice for All" from the Pledge of Allegiance? It might as well be, because these words, and what they stand for, no longer apply to the United States of America that I know and love.

We must all fight (non-violently) to restore freedom and Democracy in 2026.

Kinda makes me cry😢. We must resist.
Thank you. Reading this inspires me to celebrate Independence Day by recharging my energy to keep resisting. 🇺🇸
Beautiful Fitz! I will be re-reading this several times today.

I'm willing to give them 1793 France at this point...
[Not Bastille Day]

Thank you, Fitz! I love and share your brand of patriotism. Independence Day has always been my favorite holiday, but this year it is just sad.

Wow. Thanks, Fitz. I REALLY needed this today.
My flag is hanging upside down out front, and in the window of the doorway is a sign of Lady Liberty reading "Defend Democracy - Fight Fascism."
I may be down today, but I'm far from out.
See you at the "Good Trouble" rallies on July 17.

It's a sad Fourth. What part of "With Liberty and Justice for ALL" do they not get?
We hung our flag also because DT does not Own the flag. Neither do his minions who follow him to their own demise.
