I suggest you tell them: "Sell the American Section of the Normandy Cemetery to Resolution Copper to begin exploratory digging. Swap Mission San Xavier del Bac for an acre of Federal Land in Topanga so that Resolution Copper may begin exploratory digging under the altar section of the mission. Offer the Lincoln Memorial to Resolution Copper to begin exploratory digging. BECAUSE THEY ARE JUST AS SACRED AS OAK FLAT."

"Only profit is sacred." Well put, David. Sadly, the Supreme Court concurred when it ruled that profit was the sole function of corporations.

We have digressed from the Founding Fathers who feared corporations as much if not more than they feared kings. They were conservative. Today's power brokers are more akin to fascism by siding with corporations and depending on corporate money. The lesson Jesus tried to teach about money changers is yet to be learned.

Thanks for writing a really good piece, David.

Eisenhower also warned about the "miltary-industrial complex". Nobody listened.

One more tale of the destruction of this country. I awoke this morning to read that the new person in charge of wrecking the Smithsonian is ordering that the lunch counter where those brave young men sat to begin the fight for civil rights is being moved out of the National Museum of Black History. How in the name of all that's holy are either of these things acceptable? My anger and disgust grows by the minute.

As a white person I can honestly say that we are truly a plague on the land, and as a filmmaker, Little Big Man is my favorite movie of all time. ‘Lessons unlearned’ will be the inscription on the tombstone of our society.

My husband and I always stop at Oak Flat to meditate on its fate each year enroute to a visit to New Mexico. This country, the U.S., is rotten to the core. San Xavier de Bac? Now that is insane but not criminal like the utter destruction of an entire people’s last homeland.

Thanks for the update, I had not heard the bad news. Not only is Rio Tinto an Australian company with a terrible track record, but it is partially owned by Chinese investors, meaning a Chinese-linked corporation could gain control of U.S. public lands and critical minerals—during an active trade war with China!
