As I read this I was thinking of the downpour last night. I opened the front door, leaving the screen door closed and enjoyed the show...but eventually the rain was so hard and blowing toward me that it started blowing into my apartment-LOL. However, I let it go for away as I own a mop...

Your work is bright and filled with wonderful design and satire. I especially liked the multi-panel one about the Arroyo Cafe and the Tucsonan - in the dark room. Wonderful layout.

Somewhere at home I have a yellowed clip of one of your cartoons from the Star about the annual monsoon theatre, it has someone sitting on the roof of their flooded car , and a caption (paraphrased, it's been decades since I've laid eyes on it) "Summer theatre in Tucson, with dumb drivers starring in the one-man show 'I, Gilligan'"

Just the other evening, our patio was graced with the presence of a large tarantula. She sheltered behind the chair cushions stacked to keep out of the potential rain - which didn't show up until 11:30 PM after a lovely light show. In the morning, she was gone, hopefully to munch on scorpions.

Thanks for sharing your lovely popsicle memories and ode to the desert people, David.

Since we are spending our summers in Oregon, I will miss the full effect of the monsoon rains. It's still a regret of mine that the one summer we stayed at our little place north of Saddlebrook in 2020, we never had a drop of rain! However, I did get to enjoy the swimming pool every day. I do love the sudden torrential downpours that turn our streets into rivers, while the thunder shakes the rafters. Thank you for the cartoons that make me actually long for the desert!
