Amen, and then some. Remember those who survived, as well, yet were scorned. Remember to include the more recent indecent comments made at Arlington by a current contemporary idiot. God bless and defend America.
Sad, but true. My question is: In the time left, can "WE" ... who wanted to learned in school and who do understand U.S. History ... educate the 'purposefully uninformed' among us? They seem NOT to acknowledge the American Revolution, our Founders, Wars of 1812, 1860, WWI and WWII, and America's undeclared wars (ex., Korean conflict). IMHO: That information is required in our heads to be called "voting citizens" of this place where we live! What will it take to have those who ditched U.S. History classes in HS and higher ed, to catch up? We need an intense Summer School semester in order to teach the understanding of the shaky ground on which our "Self-Governing Republic" now stands? I wish I was sure that we could.
Thank you for your Memorial Day retrospective. I always wondered why anyone would wish someone a 'Happy Memorial Day'. It is not a happy day, it is a day to remember, honor and hold close in our hearts those who gave their lives for our country. Anyone who does not honor our soldiers is not a true American. May all those who lost loved ones know that their deaths were not in vain.
Amen my friend… The day we forget to remember the sacrifices others have made so we can grow old with our children and grandchildren is a day we no longer deserve that kind of sacrifice. Thanks to all those brave souls both past and present who gave us this great gift. We need to be thankful not only today, but every day we breathe free in the Democracy they preserved for us.
Thank you for reminding me how fortunate I was when the draft was terminated the month after I graduated from high school and I joined you amongst those who dodged a bullet figuratively and maybe circumstances where that platitude might have been literally true.
Apparently, humans have an inherent genetic defect toward warfare and killing, e.g. Russia-Ukraine, Israel-Gaza and as far back as the species existed. As we, as a species have no animal predators, we must become our own.
Well said my friend. Although I served in the Navy during Vietnam, I too was fortunate to not have seen combat. On this day I honor my high school mates who were not as fortunate. Good Health

Sadly, so many so-called Americans would vote for that traitor
