I grew up on Tom Lehrer, Mark Russell, Flanders and Swann, etc. Now thankfully I have you in my life, an equal treasure in your own right. How lucky Mr. Russell was to know you as well!
What a great tribute to Mr. Russell! I remember watching him on PBS years ago and was enthralled by his wit and political acumen. I'm so glad you were able to work with him and count him as a friend. I'm sure he must have felt the same way about you. Thank you!
Dave, thanks for scanning these items at high resolution. Like any real fan, I enjoy zooming in and studying every frayed edge and every turn of the ballpoint.
My son and Mark's son were on the same baseball team many years ago. I didn't know who he was. He called to ask about buying a certain gift for my son's birthday party and I told him that was too expensive! He said No Problem. I got to know his first wife, Rebecca, and our sons kept in touch for a while after that. We watched every special Mark did after that and truly appreciated him and his humor. I keep in touch with Matt by Facebook.
What a wonderful connection! I got to know Mark in the last decade of his life. Matt's as nice as his pop. Hope you are doing well, Judy. I always admired your civic spirit and your sharp smart ass wit.
Yes, Matt is cool also! He and my son Leonard connected on Facebook. Rebecca has a video that the boys made when in high school. They wrote a play and made a video of it. Very funny!
I grew up listening to Tom Lehrer singing The Vatican Rag. I was raised in the Catholic faith and used to wonder when he would be stuck down by the hand of God. Lehrer pushed a lot of cultural norm buttons in his day. My husband saw Mark Russell perform at the Shoreham Hotel in Washington D.C. and we rarely missed his TV specials. Mark Russell's take on "inside the beltway" politics was astute and hilarious. I send our condolences to Mark Russel's son, Matt and family.

Thank you kind soul! Ever onward.

I’m a lucky satirist. Ever onward!
The way you beautifully commemorate people and animals is breathtaking. :)
Thank you, young lady.

Glad you enjoyed it as much as I did. Ever onward!

I watched Mr Russell’s specials on PBS religiously every year - and once saw him perform in person. Lovely, lovely tribute.
