You have been one of my favorite cartoonists since I arrived in Tucson 43 years ago but your "wordsmithery" is even more sublime. You are a treasure to our community, and it's great to see you rediscover your joy. Keep taking care of that ticker, dude. I look forward to reading many more delightful rants, heart rending reflections, and snarky columns!

You're incredibly talented ... and I marvel at today's display. Thanks for the demo ... and by the way, you're not old. As Einstein put it, 'Do not grow old, no matter how long you live. Never cease to stand like a curious child before The Great Mystery into which we were born.'

Cool process! When I first saw this it took me a minute to recognize Kari. Then my second thought was ..." .. you can put lipstick on a pig......." I didn't see that it was a padded cell! Thanks for illustrating your process!..... no question what you are expressing now.........

I wish that great Lake cartoon were going to run in the Star or in papers everywhere. Your willingness to get into the inside story of its creation is a rare and wonderful thing. Thanks for sharing that expose of the, of your, creative process. I miss your line in the paper.

And I agree with Lou Waters below: may you live so long that you will look back with irony and envy at your fully alive young self.

Do you wonder what Putin (or Bukele) have done to make sure cartooning like yours no longer competes with their effect on the world?

Love 💕 your doddle’s & creative brain. As a former illustrator myself I can truly appreciate how your brain operates - a little on the crazy side at times 🤣 (Maybe a little crazy to others but not to us!)

I enjoyed this. I am in awe of editorial cartoons because they really are worth a thousand words. They convey emotion and sarcasm so succinctly.

And I ordered the pens you recommended for occasional sketching.
