David, thank you for bringing humor as well as perspective to the life of your readers! Even on the days I don’t want to read the news or hear anything more about the world’s chaos, your writing makes me laugh and sometimes cry. Thank you for sharing your brilliance!
"Oh, Whatta Relief It Is!" to know that I have at least one "brother from a different mother" who thinks things, sees things, says things, wants things, doesn't want things, believes in important things as do I. Thanx, Dave. Blessings in disguise don't come packaged any better than do you! (Who knew, right?) I could have written this thing, myself, except that I didn't ... I got up this morning to find that YOU already had written it! Your viewpoint on love was so perfecf. Amen. Mine is long gone, but you're blessed still to have yours. OK, gang! Now that all's been said-and-done, don't just sit there ... get up and DO something! DO something positive, powerful, patriotic, loving, right. Yes, You Can! All at once! "No time like the present! Strike while the iron is hot! Action speaks louder than words!" Everyone knows All of that. McCartney was right: "All Ya Need Is Love!" Happy New Year in 2024 to ALL other "cock-eyed optimists."
Thank You, Mr. Fitzsimmonds for the fun and smiles you bring us. the perspective you provide is refreshing. you are the modern day Mark Twain....I agree with your resolution attitude but here's one to consider...sleep more in 2024. thanks again..from a long time Fitz Fan.
Thank you, Fitz! You have made my New Year's, and actually my whole year. There is hope for the world as long as there are your wonderful writings to look forward to. Keep on being you.
Life is not, as you say, "a long goodbye." Rather it is a long hello to those new people, pleases and things that make our lives creative. Change nothing this year, Skippy. We like you just the way you are. And stay the hell off of ladders, dear David.
Ahhh, Deteriorata with a Fitzian twist - splendiferous! Other than taking heart amid the deepening gloom that my dog is finally getting enough cheese, I would like to echo another's sentiment regarding the love of a/your soul mate. Even if one does not believe in such things, they exist and we are well and truly blessed (even if one does not believe in such things) to find them. Mine departed two decades ago this month, but her wisdom, fiery passion and funny quirks sustain me to this day. As for the coming year, the most cogent advice I can offer is from my Mistress of the Malapropism herself: Keep a stiff upper chin.
Love your “Desiderata,” as I also loved National Lampoon’s “Deteriorata.” “A walk through the oceans of most [Maga?] souls will scarcely get your feet wet.” All noble thoughts occasionally need rewrites! Love love love your writings. Best of health and humor in ‘24!
