Sadly, I'm with you, David. Numb...but angry. Again and again with the "thoughts and prayers" bs from the right, with the new Preacher Speaker saying how "right" prayer is in this moment. Prayer doesn't do jack, buddy. Every shooting makes me remember how our photography guide in Auckland, NZ remarked on how I was always scanning rooftops and alleyways, wondering what I was doing. When I told him it's a habit of mine to always scan for snipers in parking lots, means of escape routes, and doorway exits when inside, he shook his head. "You Americans are insane to keep living that way."

Yes. Yes we are.

So? Look at our new Speaker of the House , an A1 Election denier, and the support the Orange one had and still has.

Look at our Supreme Court.

The USA has lost its direction and soon its honor.

I took Stephen Colbert's advice and sent a message to my representative in the House, Juan Ciscomani to find out his position on guns, guns, guns. It seems that he has already shifted his position on assault weapons. Now, he supports a ban on assault weapons. It's a start.

Your cartoons captured the issues very well. And they are funny! The issues in and around gun control are not so humorous “in real life.” The asylum net squad cannot bag enough people…the whole nation is the “gun asylum.” What a pity. It is a distortion of democracy and our system of government. We regular whackos have to somehow share the “common areas” our care facility with our gun obsessed neighbors and relatives. Why are we “crazy people” responsible for them?

“Same as it ever was,” I fear.

I support all three of those great groups. A lot of positive organizing is happening. Last week I asked Kirsten Engel about "guns," (I should have elaborated a little) and I found her response luke warm, starting off by referencing the Second Amendment. I think the gerrymandered district she's hoping to win (Ciscomani's) must have a lot of pro-gun voters she doesn't want to alienate.

Don't forget, we the people elect them.

Yeah! We used to have friends who kept high capacity firearms so they could protect themselves when the government came to get them. My comment, "Your guns vs. rocket-propelled grenades, bazookas, drone bombs... really? They used to be OK but "went off the deep end". They are no longer friends. Also, the civilized world thinks that we are nuts.

Guns in the hands of angry people is a recipe for disaster. No ones safe. Weapons used by the military do not belong on the streets of America. In the hands of angry people the question almost is - when will something bad happen. Countries with rigid gun laws don't have anywhere near the carnage we have in this country. Until we enact sane laws the killing will continue, which is truly sad and irrational...... Hope you're feeling better Fitz! Jim
