I’m predicting that 18 minutes in, Trump will erupt against the moderator, declare that the whole thing is rigged, and storm out — assuring that the only topic of discussion afterwards will be Donald Trump.

Thanks for reviving those classics and I love the bingo. You might have had a square or two about Trump yelling over Biden when his mic is turned off.

Here in Amerika we love to be entertained. A sitcom, a game show. a parade, a debate. Content is 2nd tier to our desire for spectacle. Yes, I'll watch it, and I'll watch it because I am part of our problem. I know how easy it is for "agent orange to make a buffoon of himself, and I like a world of others need to see it unfold. I, like a world of others are drawn to the spectacle, when really I need to just leave it alone which would enhance a possibility for it to simply die on the vine. Those such as "the don" and kindred's such as joe ourpiehole, and careless lake <( oh, did I get the spelling wrong ? I think not.) should never have climbed down from their bar stools. But they have, dragging their 50 word vocabulary, and attitudes along with them. In a world of 25 word sound bites a 50 word vocabulary is more than ample for creating spectacle. aka. Dr. K.

I actually watched the first televised debate between Nixon and Kennedy in 1960 when I was nine. I think that the only one I've watched since was just after the Access Hollywood tapes were released to see how Trump would handle that, though I had to turn it off pretty quickly before I threw something at the TV. They are a waste of time for me since I already know who I will be voting for long before they happen, but they are still more interesting than the State of the Union messages. I may watch this week just to see how well Biden holds up, though unless he collapses into a coma, he'll get my vote. And maybe even if he is in one because he'd still be better than the alternative (or alternatives if you want to consider the other candidates, which I try not to).

I’m already laughing and the show hasn’t even begun! And why don’t we have real debates on real issues? Guess you need two well informed people and only having one who actually knows the issues isn’t going to work. Entertaining I’m sure so I’ll have my popcorn ready!

Spot on Fitz! I'll be re-reading this a few more times before tomorrow's can't-miss event! However, as a former debater and debate coach, I don't think we'll see what amounts to a "debate" given this format. What we will witness is a man who opens his mouth to twist words into sentences or phrases we can't understand. And the nonverbal cues including facial expressions, gestures and movement? That will be worth watching.

I like the bingo idea....I may be less offended by some of the things said if I'm seeing it as a game of chance.

I was at that Gifford & Kelly debate, too. Kelly was indeed a preview of coming attractions.
