How lucky we are to have had gentle, caring, fathers, and grandfathers. And your essay says so much about the dignity of work and the respect for those who do it! Huzzas to you💕
I love your blog. I'm so sorry you are also on the cosmic shit list. We came home from a week away to a $538 water bill from an invisible leak. Next day our AC went out. Now we have a leak between the shower and our bedroom wall. That's 3. We're keeping our fingers crossed for you and us.
When I was growing up in Northern Minnesota, we never worried about the sewer line clogging or freezing. We made sure the path to the "out house" was clear of snow in the winter and that the latest sears catalog was available to use.
Since all "good things" come in threes, I would encourage a short term equity loan for when your autos, or roof, or major appliances such as the refrigerator pick the next 103 degrees day and you have major appointments that cannot be rescheduled so...voila! Another adventure in adult life! And you thought you had retired!
You'll probably hear about lots of toilet mishaps in Tucson. Us, too. As we decided never to have this experience again, we installed an emergency release valve in our front yard. The shit storm will occur if the neighbors receive the results of our excess bounty. We do love Tucson!
Wonderful tale. Calamity is the mark of parenthood and life.
So true. I count myself among the most fortunate survivors of many "calamities".
I was raised by a single Mom. My dad died when I was 3. I was the only kid in the neighborhood without a Dad.
Single moms deserve a statue in the national square that would overshadow the State of Liberty.

Sister, we earned a little good karma.

So right, my friend. Ever onward!

What an adventure. We had one installed this time.
