It’s been an emotional couple of weeks for we progressives who once again are daring to hope.
At my home we are all in for Harris and Walz.
DONATE
I was watching the exhilarating roll call vote for Kamala Harris and I was mesmerized by the exuberance of my fellow Americans animated by hope. I was also moved by the diversity that enriches our democratic republic, in stark contrast with the MAGA convention’s homogeneous cast and dark spirit.
It was then, a dear friend, moved by what he’d seen as well, texted me, asking me which group should receive his donation. (Because he’s a public figure I won’t reveal his identity.)
“Question: Of the many, many ways to support a Democratic victory this Fall (besides my vote and general good nature) — which organization would you say might have the greatest impact?”
What would you, my dear readers, advise? I was impressed by the list of groups he was considering! Here’s the list, including his notes:
Emily’s List
The Harris Victory Fund
Ruben Gallego
Mary Trump’s Democracy Defense Org
GOTV PAC (Get Out The Vote)
Voters Of Tomorrow (a PAC of mostly teenagers doing a lot of the hard physical work of registering Gen Z voters)
Leaders We Deserve, supporting young progressives making their entry into national and state politics
CPLC Action Fund (Chicanos por la causa, which could have a big turnout effect here in the Southwest)
Any of dozens of House campaigns in flippable states
Four Directions, who are doing huge registration and GOTV work in the Native nations
FieldTeam6.org
Raquel Terán in AZ-03
The Lincoln Project
The Vindmans
Dunn’s Democracy Defenders
Fight Like Hell PAC w Gretchen Whitmer, AKA Big Gretch?
Katie for AZ?
Wow. What a list. I told my thoughtful pal that I send my donations to Act Blue. Friends, please list your suggestions in the comments:

FUN
I was also thinking for the first time in my life that standing on street corner at rush hour with signs would be fun. Any thoughts? Care to join me?
I think Ruben Gallego is the best choice to donate since his race is so close. C’mon, Kari Lake in the Senate? Ewwww. Ick.
We have been standing on the corner in Green Valley for over 2 months now, on Saturday. Trumpeters are on the opposite corner and have been for 4 years.
