Tickets go on sale today for the Old Pueblo Holiday Radio Show
And subscribers have a head start before the ticket sales go public
Once a year I pour my heart into producing this show. It’s my baby. So forgive me for using my substack newsletter to tell you about it from time to time.
Mark your calendars and get your tickets for Tucson’s favorite variety show, “The Old Pueblo Holiday Radio Show”, which will be performed on December 9th, Saturday, at noon, at the Rialto Theater.
After years of cartooning and writing about issues I wanted to do something to actually support those helping the marginalized in our community. Thus “The Old Pueblo Radio Show” was born.

Who wouldn’t love producing a show like this? I get to pretend I’m the great Broadway Producer Max Biallystock. Remember “Springtime for Hitler”?(Actually I’m more like Allan Brady running the writers table on the old “Dick Van Dyke Show”.)
TICKETS
General admission tickets are now on sale for only $22.50 and you can get yours online here: Buy your show tickets here or at the Rialto Theater Box Office. Day of the show tickets are $26.
Take all your friends. And all your relatives. Just the ones who aren’t Trumpers. Trumpers would hate our show.
I love producing this show year after year and watching the attendance grow! They were throwing tomatoes from the balcony and the balcony was packed! And the tomatoes were fresh.

We use this show to raise funds for good causes such as Youth On Their Own, Planned Parenthood, Tu Nidito, Human Rights groups, Owl & Panther or the Food Bank or...
If you have a suggestion for a worthy cause leave it in the comment field below. Thanks!
I never imagined Tucsonans would end up helping us raise tens of thousands of dollars for good causes-year after year-for nearly a decade!
-David Fitzsimmons
Our 9th annual fundraiser will feature the Arroyo Cafe Players who are the seasoned comedians Elliot Glicksman (Our Head Writer), Dave Membrila, Priscilla Fernandez, Nancy Stanley, Nick Seivert, and Bridgitte Thum & Mike Sterner.
And I’ll have my buddy at my side, the velvety voice of the Old Pueblo: Marty Bishop.
Also I’m delighted to announce Tucson’s very own delectable desert diva the delightful Mindy Ronstadt will be joining us to sing and bring the holiday spirit to our stage! What a breathtaking voice.
This host is really thrilled that we have our very own rocking house band, “The Cadillacs”! They are a show unto themselves. Why is the music in our show so good? Because the King of the Cadillacs, the Sultan of Rock, Mike Serres, is our fabulous Musical Director.
Also look for our favorite chorale of choirboys gone bad, Reveille’s “Grandsons of the Pioneers”, to give us spectacular showstoppers that’ll bring the house down and your spirits up,up,up.
And John Booth of the Booth Brothers duo will perform a musical tribute to a Tucsonan that will touch you like no song you’ve heard before.
And if that isn’t enough our very special Mystery Guest will blow you away. Just saying.
And on the baby grand piano, bringing it all home, we are blessed with the magical ragtime-good time-swing-time man himself, the amazing Sly Slipetsky!
Cross Garrison Keillor’s “Prairie Home Companion” with “Gila Bend’s Got Talent”, with a side of Santa, salsa and a sprinkling of Old Pueblo sentiment and you have Tucson’s favorite holiday party.
Be forewarned. You will experience satire. With an election year coming up and Arizona the epicenter of wing-nuttery how could we resist?
You never know who the mystery guest will be.
One year it was Janos and another year it was the drag queen Tempest du Jour. Other shows featured Mayor Rothschild, Dan Marries, Lupita, Mayor Romero and MSNBC’s FBI Terrorism Expert Frank Figliuzzi. That same year the great musical satirist Mark Russell performed his last performance on our stage. Who will it be this year?
Suggestions?
I am proud of our cast of volunteers and I am humbled by the generous friends of the Old Pueblo Radio Show who return year after year to raise dollars for Tucson’s doers of good deeds.
