I pledge allegiance to the flag

and that for what it stands

I pledge allegiance to the flag—to no man, to no woman, to no political office, but to the flag of our United States of America.

And that for which it stands. A republic that will never kneel before a tyrant.

One nation under threat from a demagogue, fleeing justice, with bigotry for all.

I pledge eternal vigilance against the enemies of democracy, foreign, domestic and elected.

I pledge eternal vigilance against fascism, oligarchies and Nazism.

I pledge allegiance to racial, social and economic justice for all.

I pledge allegiance to liberty for women.

I pledge allegiance to the marginalized and the demonized.

I pledge allegiance to an America liberated from fanatical thugs who bully trans children—children— for political gain, those who’d take away contraceptives, ban abortion nationwide, end gay marriage—and only the God in their barely cracked Trump Bibles knows what else.

I pledge allegiance to the flag that flies over Ellis Island and Mar-a-lago, the Supreme Court, the Congress, the White House and the Constitution of the United States of America under glass in Washington, D.C.

I pledge allegiance to the flag that flies over your home and my home.

I pledge allegiance to the flag—to no man, to no woman, to no political office, but to the idea of a United States of America with justice and liberty for all.

Amen.
