Jobs are always dangled out as "bait". Hudbay claimed thousands for the proposed environmental polluting, water guzzling mine. The Copper World mine is a worse abomination than the data center. BTW, most of the jobs will be filled by people brought in from outside Tucson.
Hey, but such nonsense in commonplace among a population that elected trump.
Thanks for this. I believe one of the aspects of resistance to the data centers is that it is the wealthy elite steamrolling over communities. The NDA's and secretiveness has destroyed any trust that there might be actual benefits, and the current political climate of the right feeling they ate morally superior to the rest of us is repugnant.
All that is aside from whether or not AI is good for the world. It's being used to hack governments, encourage teen suicide and make it easy for anyone to create revenge porn. MedScape, once a trusted source for medical news, is pushing out garbage AI articles and insurance companies are using AI to deny health care.
There are no guardrails and AI is being used as one more tool to chip away at our humanity.
David is great on this, as ever❣️ Unfortunately, this email arrived today, and the meeting was at 9am today. Maybe some of us read our emails at 6:15am..... I guess...... But no doubt a good contingent of our well-prepared advocates attended. And we hugely thank them ~ possibly our dear AZ's Progressive Voice himself?❣️
Recent memos from County Administrator Jan Lesher suggest that proxies for Amazon Web Services are anxious to get the sale of the 290-acre parcel finished by Christmas.
The supervisors have been talking with their lawyers since early October, but they’re all pretty tight-lipped about what the legal concerns are at this point.
Percentage of Tucsonans who have no idea what a data center is and fall asleep when hearing about it until the name Tommie Lloyd wakes them up: 99.9997%.
And the winner is: the fossil fuel industry.
