Got a couple of fun things coming our way.
First, music. And there is no music more Tucson than mariachi.
This Sunday there is a stellar lineup of mariachi at the very cool and historic El Casino ballroom ( One million Quinceneras). Well worth the $8 for a Sunday morning, afternoon and evening show from 11AM to 8PM. What is this? The Woodstock of Mariachi? Folklorico, too. See you there! Here’s where you can get your Tickets for the Show
Jazz under the stars at Tohono Chul Park ( Or as my kids called it Toenail Shoes Park) I am reluctant to share this because I don’t want to fight you for a front row seat at their gorgeous patio venue but “Wow!” it’s awesome. This Saturday, April 22, catch the wonderful Sarah Tolar. All you want to know is here Jazz under the stars
The Century Room. Any night! Want to enjoy the grooviest speakeasy vibe west of Manhattan? Try the Sunday jazz jam or Wednesdays night’s Mysterious Babies Jazz Band. I kept expecting Woody Allen to show with his clarinet. (Insert tasteless line here, thank you, dear reader) Century room
Comedy. Every Tuesday catch the fabulous, funny, so-wrong, so-sharp Priscilla Fernandez and Mo Urban— and a consistently excellent lineup of comedy that will make you laugh head to Bumstead’s (So retro cool). I may even drop in.
Mark your calendars! I love storytellers and if you haven’t ever been to a F*ST Female Storytellers show this next one would be the one to get you hooked—as I am. The “Mothers and Others” show will take place on TUESDAY, MAY 16TH at 7pm at The Rock, 136 N. Park Ave! Tickets are $10, and the beneficiary is Youth On Their Own! (This is a 21+ event).
The Mothership of Storytellers is Odyssey Storytelling. Mark your calendars for the next show, Thursday, May 4, 2023 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM; Doors open at 6:30. I’ve been a storyteller and the upcoming show will rock.
Odyssey Storytelling Presents: Cycles: Wheels turning, seasons changing, and situations running their course. Whether a mode of transportation or periods of time passing, Odyssey Storytellers share stories of the various “Cycles” of life.
Admission is $15.00 —and “worth every penny” wrote the man living on a fixed income. Mental health for the mind I tellya.

Friday, May 19th at Casino del Sol from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm I will be the keynote speaker ( Yeah, I’m damned funny) for the “Better Business Bureau Torch Awards for Ethics” event—celebrating organizations who “demonstrate a high level of personal character, the highest standards of ethics, and generate trust with their customers and the community.” A good thing.
See you tomorrow with my Friday Fitz Fix: Part 2 of Public Speaking and Comedy; O the Terror!
Hi, Fitz, I love you, Guy, but I paid a lot more for this Substack subscription than I have for any other subscription, most of which publish daily research-based essays with citations and links. I do not feel that your publication is worth the $65 I paid. How can I make sure I don’t get auto-billed in a year when Substack re-ups without notification? Alternatively, you could actually send us material that is worth our investment.
