Good golly! You’ve never looked into OLLI? The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute? My favorite venue for giving a talk? What? Fall classes start next week?
I love this Tucson treasure. Check out their offerings here: OLLI UA website
From time to time they lower their standards and I am asked to speak to the lifelong learners at OLLI. I asked my buddy Scott Aldridge, their tireless Program Manager (and Cookie Pusher) to write about OLLI. I edited Scott’s shameless pitch: “…Osher Lifelong Learning Institute …offers learning opportunities for adults 50+…learning just for the joy of learning… no tests or grades..” No test or grades! I’m in, Scott! “…our motto is, ‘Curiosity Never Retires’. “ What? I thought your motto was “This class is so good I’ll pee when it’s over”.
Here are what I think OLLI’s good points are:
There’s never a shortage of wonderful, curious minds
There’s never a shortage of cookies
A/C
cookies
There’s almost always a “Comedy 101” class
Did I mention the cookies?
“OLLI is a member-led, volunteer-run, non-profit partner of the University of Arizona..with over 1,100 members… offering hundreds of classes and social events annually. “ And excellent cookies. For information on the upcoming fall session, as well as info on joining OLLI-UA or teaching at OLLI-UA click here: www.olli.arizona.edu.”
If you’ve never been to FIST to hear female storytellers you must go this Tuesday, September 12th, at 7pm at The Rock at 136 N. Park Ave. Go, go, go!
The theme of this show is “The ‘F’ Word”. Is the “F” word they’re referring to the word “Female”? “Fragilisticexpealidocius”? “Fallopian”? “Funny as Hell”? Show up and find out. I have never been disappointed. Ever. Trust me. You will become a “regular”. The beneficiary is the Southern Arizona Gender Alliance. Here’s a terrific #This is Tucson article about the group: Local storytelling group celebrates 10 years
