“For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ.”
—2 Corinthians 11:13
“There’s a sucker born every minute.”
—P. T. Barnum
“When religion and politics ride in the same cart, the whirlwind follows.”
—Frank Herbert
Let’s hear from the human whirlwind himself, the former-President of the United States, the self-proclaimed apostle of Christ, as he describes how his “Christian” followers are persecuted like you cannot believe.
Trump the Christian Nationalist
"Believers in our beautiful Christianity have been targeted: We’re being discriminated against as a religion. We’re being discriminated against as a faith. And we can’t let that continue. The main thing that our country needs, again, is religion. I’m fighting, very hard for people of religion, people that believe in God. I want you to pray really hard, because we have to have a victory in 2024.”
That heartfelt appeal should grab you by the pussy.
Or maybe not.
Christian Nationalism is the glue holding together the Republican Party’s white supremacists, anti-Semites and culture war Jihadists.
The Grand Old Party of Goldwater and Reagan is today the Grand Old Party of Jesus. This heathen, familiar with the Nazarene noted by the Gospel writers, does not recognize this Trumpian Jesus.
“I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.” —Mahatma Gandhi
Christian Nationalist Pastors
Christian Nationalism is a powerful, growing, political machine cloaked in the vestments of religion and linked by a network of thousands of right-wing pastors.
Evangelical pastor Jackson Lahmeyer leads the organization “Pastors for Trump”, a group that has over 7,000 pastors in its ranks. That’s 140 pastors preaching a pro-Trump Gospel in every state in the Union.
As sure as Trump can’t tell you which end of the Bible is up you know there’s a parade of “Pastors for Trump” in Arizona preaching politics from their pulpits and enjoying tax-free status.
It’s the perfect scam and network for a political movement that rejects critical thinking.
“I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do, because I notice it always coincides with their own desires.”
—Susan B. Anthony
Pastor John Bennett of “Pastors for Trump” believes Trump is being persecuted by evil forces. “We are in a war for the very soul of this nation. And God has moved Donald Trump between us and the enemy — to give us a little bit of time to get our act together...Yes, they’re after President Trump. And thank God he’s been long suffering and he’s fought the good fight of faith. Thank God, he’s been obedient to allow the Lord to work through him. Because he, and the Lord, is the only thing between us and that evil. That’s the only thing that’s right now stopping evil from overtaking good.”
Wrong. The only thing stopping evil from overtaking good are the American Christians, Jews, Muslims and heathens uniting to defeat these misguided religious fanatics at the polls.next step in this unholy alliance, mixing Christian nationalism, election lies and vitriolic language in a gross distortion of Christianity.”
Come to the Loft Cinema, Wednesday June 14th 6-8pm to hear Amanda Tyler, JD of the Baptist Joint Committee speak in person
These Pastors preach a simple message. Give yourself over to Jesus, the GOP and Donald Trump and you, too, can be a Jihadist for Jesus, a Holy warrior in a great cosmic struggle and here’s the kicker, you get to go to a magical Heaven and hang out with Jesus when you die at the next insurrection. And as sure as pedophiles are rampant in organized religion the best part is you can be confident your invisible friend in the sky has a plan for you. And for your God forsaken country.
Blessed are the poor in education for theirs is the kingdom of Donald.
When Trump got busted the popular Christian Nationalist troubador Sean Feucht was untroubled. Sean knows God has a game plan, a divine strategy.
“We know that you got a plan God… You can take what the enemy meant for evil in this horrible, corrupt, disgusting, demonic situation with this case in New York... you can shift it — and turn it around for our good.”
Unfortunately for Trump and for Christ’s troubadour it would appear to this heathen that God has other plans for the Christian Nationalists.
God’s plan:
Step One: Christian Nationalists take over Republican Party
Step Two: Americans reject the Republican Party in 2024 because Americans are horrified by their repression, racism and bizarre positions.
Such as their position on Ukraine.
Why do Christian Nationalists Republicans love Putin and question Ukraine?
Many Christian Nationalist Republicans support Vladimir Putin’s barbaric war because they are gullible enough to believe Putin is a good Christian (He says he is) and that Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Jewish President of Ukraine, harbors Nazis. Let me repeat that. They believe Putin is a good Christian. And the Jewish President of Ukraine harbors Nazis.
Christian Nationalists believe anything they are told by their Pastors and their usual snake pit of online serpents.
Trickle down economics works.
More guns will make you safer.
Russia’s the good guy.
Hillary is the Anti-Christ.
Obama’s a Muslim.
Trump was sent by God.
Abortion is murder.
America is God’s Promised Land.
White Evangelical men should rule the world.
Biden is demonic.
Jesus loves you.
Jesus really loves you when you own the libtards.
They’ll believe Democrats drink the blood of babies if that’s what their leaders preach.
O Lord, lead me not into logic, but deliver me from facts. Give me this day anything but reality.
At one time in America, long ago, the Republican Party was pretty much your local Chamber of Commerce crowd, a luncheon buffet line of stuffed shirts in ties. Those stuffed shirts in ties have all been driven out of the modern Republican Party and replaced by a small confederacy of religious fanatics, gun nuts and Q-Anon crackpots backed by billionaires who will agree to any horseshit as long as their Confederacy of Dunces gives them tax breaks and kills democracy.
Blessed are they that mourn for democracy
Arizona’s Christian Nationalists
Kari Lake is a Christian nationalist who compared MAGA Republicans to Jesus and prays for Donald Trump. Lake said God would help her “take back our country and save this republic” from Arizona Democrats whom she has described as demonic and from Joe Biden whom she characterized as satanic. She opened her race prayed over by mega-church evangelicals who believed God had given Kari the “gifts of prophecy”.
And lo, Kari’s divine gifts of prophecy failed to forewarn Kari that Hobbs would would hand Lake’s head to her on a platter just like Herod served up John the Baptist’s noggin.
And lo, again, Kari’s divine gifts of prophecy failed to forewarn Kari that verily, Arizona’s Courts of Law would reject thy ridiculous election lawsuits as so much clanging brass and camel dung.
And lo, it has come to pass that we now find Kari, the Christian Nationalist sinking star, forsaken by her God and condemned to wander in the media desert for the next 40-months, babbling like the Jordan River, about how her victory was stolen. And yet I say unto you, it shall come to pass that God shall call on Kari to fulfill the prophecy described in the Book of Revelation wherein she defeats the seven-headed serpent Kyrsten Sinema in the final battle at Megiddo which is not that far from Apache Junction.
Meanwhile, this past Spring we saw a parade of pious poltroons gave Arizonans a taste of their “old time religion” by proposing laws that rivaled the Spanish Inquisition for cruelty based solely on superstitious nonsense. Not evidence, but mythology. Not fact, but fantasy. Like the Taliban, Arizona’s Christian Nationalists reject gender equality, tolerance for diversity, public education, reason, science, democracy and any modern values that stand in the way of the absolute power they seek.
While Christian Nationalists like Republican State Senators Justine Wadsack, David Farnsworth, Janae Shamp and Jake Hoffman and State Senator John Kavanagh made headlines by hunting for predators, banning books and dragging drag queens through the mud other Christian Nationalists have been hard at work in the fields of their Lord here in Arizona.
Arizona State Senator Wendy Rogers is a Christian Nationalist who traffics in White supremacy, Q-Anon and anti-Semitism. Wendy has called for the murder of her political enemies because Jesus and God are on Wendy’s side. Wendy, the persecuted insurrectionist, is quite the fundraiser.
Arizona State Representative Mark Finchem is a Christian Nationalist. Before he ran for Secretary of State and lost, Finchem was a legislator who voted to restrict abortion, to ban books, to persecute transgender youth, to push prayer in school and to dismantle public education because he wanted to make Jesus happy.
Arizona Congressman Andy Biggs may as well be a Christian Nationalist. Chair of the House Freedom Caucus, Biggs, was the key player in the Stop the Steal scam and a friend of the Oath Keepers- even after they called for hanging Sen. John McCain. Jesus loves Andy and Freedom.
Arizona Congressman Paul Gosar is a Christian Nationalist. In June of 2002 Gosar tweeted, “Shit is gonna get real if you mess with Jesus.” Good to know, Paul. The Lord told me Jesus is pleased to have you, Paul, a genuine bonehead in his corner.
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit a theocracy and it will be Hell
Texas Senator Ted Cruz is a Christian Nationalist. Teddy kicked off his Senate campaign at Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University. Been downhill ever since.
Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville is a Christian Nationalist. Tommy’s convinced Shariah law has taken over and that “God sent Donald Trump to us.” Just one question for you, Tommy. Why does God hate us?
And then there’s the cream of the Christian Nationalist crop, Representatives Lauren Boebert, Matt Gaetz, Marjorie Taylor Green and Jim Jordan, evidence the Lord works in hysterical ways.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst after righteousness for right about now you are probably wondering how do we fight Christian Nationalism?
A number of ways.
First, I am hoping to see you at the Tucson event at the Loft in June.
Second, I have listed here a number of groups for you to explore, join and support. Please check these organizations out:
Secular Arizona
Website: Secular Arizona
“Secular Arizona” is an amazing, impressive and engaged advocacy group. Here’s their mission:
”Secular AZ was formed in 2010 to ensure a secular state government and to educate lawmakers and the public about the importance of secular issues. We advocate on behalf of all individuals who believe that public policy free of religious preference is the best way to ensure freedom of conscience for Arizonans of all faiths and of none. We also represent the Arizona nontheistic community – a vibrant and growing community of Arizonans who self-identify as atheists, agnostics, humanists, freethinkers, "nones," and other labels of personal choosing. We work to ensure that the law is never biased to the detriment of or against the interests of Arizona's nontheists as required in the Arizona state Constitution.”
Here are some fundamental tenets of the organization:
Accurate, factual scientific information — not religious dogma or theology — should form the basis for determining the validity and efficacy of public health policy and legislative measures pertaining to medical care.
The right to have a child, the right to not have a child, and the right to parent a child or children in safe and healthy environments; this right cannot be denied due to religious belief.
Public policy should ensure fact-based science and comprehensive sex education.
Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty
Website: Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty
The BJC website tells you all you need to know about their mission: “We are attorneys, Capitol Hill insiders, ministers, mobilizers and scholars. We file briefs in pivotal Supreme Court cases, advocate for and against legislation, testify in Congress and unite with others across faiths to ensure that all Americans have, and will always have, the right to follow their spiritual beliefs. Founded in 1936, we bring our uniquely Baptist perspective of ‘soul freedom’ to protecting religious liberty for all and defending the separation of church and state. BJC is the only faith-based group working on the national level with this singular focus. Why? Religious freedom is a pillar of American life, written into the U.S. Constitution and spelled out in the first 16 words of the First Amendment: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”“Come join us! We need your help in guarding the constitutional protection of religious liberty for all people. We’ve got tools, trainings, and resources to show you how to use your voice powerfully — whether it’s engaging on social media, signing a letter to Congress, reaching out to lawmakers or taking action in your community. We’re in this together.”
Arizona Faith Network
Website: Arizona Faith Network
“Arizona Faith Network is a interfaith organization dedicated to bringing people together to promote peace and understanding through interfaith education and dialogue as well as healing of the world through collaborative social action…We recognize that our diversity makes us stronger and while we seek to find common ground, we also lift up our differences as unique individuals and communities…”

It is only with your grit and determination that America will remain a free, secular, diverse and thriving democratic republic. May the beacon of liberty continue to shine her light on all of us.
All I can say, David, is: "Jesus H Christ. You nailed it." Christian Nationalism is, as many have noted, an oxymoron. It's ungrammatical, unAmerican and unChristian.
Thank you for speaking truth. Please consider another wonderful organization in addition to those you named: Americans United for Separation of Church and State.
