My subject today, dear class, is a repressive theocratic regime that imprisons its critics, deprives its citizens of fundamental constitutional rights and turns its military on its own people primarily so the regime’s corrupt radical leadership can cling to power.
Enough about Trump’s America.
Let’s talk about Iran.
Iran is a repressive theocratic regime that imprisons its critics, deprives its citizens of fundamental constitutional rights, distorts religion for its purposes and turns its military on its own people.
Primarily so that the regime’s corrupt radical leadership can cling to power. Can you smell a theme here?
And much like our current government, the government of Iran survives by throwing red meat to its masses (Israel is the great Satan!), stoking visceral hatred for external enemies using identity and religion (We must drive the Zionists into the Sea) and distorting Holy writ for its purposes.
And finally, Israel launched this unending war against Iran and Gaza primarily so that Israel’s corrupt radical leadership, Bibi Netanyahu, can continue to cling to power.
When the FOX news knuckle-dragging knuckleheads began thumping their chests and beating the war drums Donald Trump was watching and drooling and becoming aroused and he took the bait and he danced until the fever got hold of him. Forgive my sexism, but he is a man. And men love things that go boom, blissfully giving no consideration to the consequences of things that go boom.
For evidence see “human history, invention of gunpowder to present day”.
Abuse of America’s Military
As was the case with my brothers’ service in Vietnam, Americans serving in uniform are often serving the whims of feckless civilian administrations, nitwits making military decisions without consulting the military, and like Trump, they simply view our children as cannon fodder, toy soldiers on a map, losers, and suckers who made the mistake of saying yes to a recruiter rather than being sharp enough to have a rich enough dad to insure the claim they suffered from really terrible bone spurs would be given a very fair hearing. Very fair hearing. Phenomenal hearing.
Trump’s bombing of Iran was tactically brilliant but strategically shortsighted.
This is not a profound observation. He’s an idiot.
By the way, who gave these operations the ridiculous names of “Rising Lion” and “Midnight Hammer”? They sound more like treatments for erectile dysfunction than a military action. Call the op what it was. “Operation Stampeding Rhino in a China Shop”.
As soon the bombs were blown, I switched to Fox where I listened to the smug Alpha Trumpers cheering like chest thumping, floor slapping, howling apes. “Donald Trump is the man!” and “Woo Hoo! We bombed Iran!” and “That’ll teach those Jihadi terrorists!”
That will teach them. And all of us what we already know. That the President of the United States has no solutions, no team of respected experts, no strategy, no end game.
The President has only his gut instinct.
The President of the United States only has his gut instinct. The gut instinct that has brought him a lifetime of countless bankruptcies, failed lawsuits and belly-up enterprises. Now that “gut instinct” is our Ike. And we’re on the precipice of America’s D-Day.
Oh, Donald, what will your gut instinct bring down upon our nation’s blood and treasure. Tell us, oh demented Draft Dodger, how many trips to Andrews or Arlington to salute the dead will you miss for golf?
Maybe I was listening in on the wrong signal app channel with Hegseth but now is not the time for Commander Bone Spurs to string “MISSION ACCOMPLISHED” across the Oval behind his desk.
Strategist without peer, General Bone Spurs, had been telegraphing his intent to bomb the three uranium enrichment sites long enough for the Iranians to relocate enough material out of there to build a you-know-what in about six months.
Our B-2s failed to take out all of Iran’s nuclear materials and weapons producing infrastructure.
Iran continues to dig underground facilities deeper.
Iran will attack American forces.
Iran will shut down the flow of oil.
Global Markets will grow more chaotic.
Israel and Iran will keep lobbing missiles. And we will sink deeper into another quagmire as we hear rumors Russia is contemplating basing their nukes in Iran. Uh oh. Checkmate.
Nobody wants a North Korea in the Middle East, and nobody wants Armageddon on the plains of Megiddo. (Except for MAGA’s loony fundamentalists). In 2015 we had a nuclear weapons agreement with Iran. For manufactured political reasons Trump cancelled that binding agreement.
That could end up being the dumbest historical move this century.
When the war expands good luck assembling a “Coalition of the Willing”. Every former Allie hates you now. On the bright side FOX news will host a special celebrating your “Coalition of the Bribed”. Thanks, Qatar and Hungary!
So now we a “MISSION SOMEWHAT ACCOMPLISHED” leaving us with a hidden “weapons of mass destruction” problem to deal with in the Middle East. And Trump’s team is exponentially dumber than the Bush league that stumbled into Iraq in 2003 and sent 4500 Americans home in body bags.
Don’t buy the regime change blather.
It would be a blessing for the Iranian people if regime change took place. But this isn’t how you liberate a people.
Bombing civilians only stiffens resistance.
Regime changes brought about by external forces fail.
Grassroots revolutions, in contrast, tend to succeed, given sufficient firearms, infrastructure, popular support and funding.
How did our attempt to force regime change turn out for Afghanistan, Iraq or Vietnam? Tens of thousands dead and maimed all because of the hubris of feckless civilian administrations. Believing you can bomb a technologically inferior enemy into submission on their own land is a fool’s errand. It only strengthens a regime’s nationalistic appeals to unite its people against a common foe.
Understanding this demands an appreciation of history. We have a President who believes The Civil War and The Declaration of Independence happened at the same time General Washington was liberating airports. At least that’s what his friend Frederick Douglass told him.
They say he has no sense of humor. That’s not true. I’m sure our petty, cruel and narcissistic President giggled when he posted his warning for the people of Tehran to evacuate the city.
I know he enjoyed that as much as he enjoyed using his hyperbolic description “Obliterate”.
With great pleasure. We obliterated them.
The same care and pleasure with which he obliterated his intelligence agencies, his national security advisors, our cyber defenses, our FBI and the State Department experts essential to our nation’s defense in this perilous world of his malignant creation.
May Providence protect our blood and treasure around the world.
“Rising Lion” and “Midnight Hammer” ED medications, what a giggle.
Oh, David you do have a way with words!
It’s not horrific enough that Israel has made itself into a pariah state but now unbelievably, the US will back their play against Iran all in aid of keeping another evil old man in power. The current occupant is going to get us all killed. Any day now one of the terminally delusional “leaders” will up the ante & go nuclear to show his Rising Lion chops.
Keep your loved ones close.
thanks for articulating a clear summary of this moment
